Gobuk is a gorgeous village is located in the Upper Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh, at an elevation of approximately 1236 meters above sea level. It is home to the Adi Tribe, one of the largest ethnic groups in Arunachal Pradesh. Gobuk village is a close-knit community comprising 117 households and a population of around 700 people, according to the latest survey.

 

Nestled amidst lush green fields and breathtaking landscapes, Gobuk is a small village with a rich history and vibrant cultural heritage. Its roots trace back to Simong village, from where its ancestors relocated in search of more fertile land. Between 1925 and 1927, they established Gobuk after overcoming challenges, including a historic conflict with the neighboring Padam community.

 

The name “Gobuk,” meaning “new settlement,” was given by the Padam, while locals affectionately call it “Mobuk.” Now home to its 15th generation, Gobuk is a thriving village where traditions and customs are cherished. A visit to Gobuk is an experience of timeless beauty, hard work, and deep-rooted heritage.
